Rave Reviews

'A thigh-slappingly funny travelogue!'

-- 8 Days Magazine, Singapore.

'A hilarious read. Entertaining to the hilt, this book elevates armchair travelling to another more quirky, more fascinating level.'

-- Lifestyle Magazine, Singapore.

'A very endearing writing style, a talent for description and an intelligent, laugh-out-loud wit. An entertaining, easy read.'

-- Singapore Expat Magazine.

Stu Lloyd is a marvellously whimsical travel writer and this search for Paradise on earth allows him to give full reign to his obvious desire to experience and describe as many of the most fascinating places on the planet as he can manage.

Paradise, as Stu sees it, obviously consists of somewhere warm, beautiful and interesting with, above all, a plentiful supply of cold beer and gorgeous women (at a distance)  --  who can really disagree with that definition? -- and he puts enormous energy into this quest.

His adventures along the way are described with a wonderful mixture of cynicism (about commercial tourism), awe (at the natural beauty of the world), humour (at the foibles of the human condition), curiosity (about all the people he meets along the way) and good old-fashioned joy (at the pleasure to be had from a cold beer on a hot day).

The resultant book is both an entertaining read and a good stimulus to visit some of Stu's candidates for Paradise . . . and to avoid others.’

-- Jim Eagles, Travel Editor, NZ Herald.

‘Stu Lloyd's work is deservedly popular among those described as "not easily offended". Yet his enjoyable new book shows that under the laddish exterior beats the heart of an engaging individual who has a genuine interest in Asia's wildlife---human and otherwise!’

--   Nury Vittachi, Author.

'A bloody good read. Makes me feel like I'm there.'

-- Cameron Marshall, ABC Radio, Australia.

'Takes me back to, and how I miss, the Virgin Islands (U.S. of course).
Luckily I had Gone Troppo to keep me focused on debauchery (daiquiris and
dames division).'

-- Fergus M, Australia.

'Paul Theroux meets Sir Les Patterson somewhere in Orchard Towers.'

-- Chris Kyme, Hong Kong.

'I thoroughly enjoyed the book ... many laugh-out-loud moments ... hilarious!'

-- Ester Lee, travel agent.
